Services Overview

Richard Skinner & Associates is a full service Architectural firm. A typical project involves site analysis, programming, preliminary design, budgeting, construction documents, final pricing, contractor selection, and construction administration. Full service includes structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering as part of the basic fee. We coordinate with consultants such as interior and landscape designers to help generate high quality projects. Each phase is approved by the client before proceeding to the next phase.

Visualization Services

We offer a variety of ways to assist our clients in better understanding what has been designed for them before it is built. New technologies have made this easier and more cost-effective. The cost of these services vary with each project depending on complexity and detail.

3-D - computer modeling can demonstrate at eye level what a building will look like. One can move about the building at will to examine its component parts. Year-round sun and shade patterns can be demonstrated based on its location on the actual site. Material, color, and lighting can also be explored depending on how detailed one wants their model to be.

Models - Models can be constructed of laser cut board to simulate material textures and actual site conditions. These are useful in helping to see how the building shape, window and door placement and roof forms come together. Sometimes it is easier to understand a design when you can touch it.

Renderings - Two- and three-dimensional renderings are a wonderful way to give a building a sense of place and scale. Renderings help to place value on color, material, light and shadow. These drawings tend to better show how a building appears in its natural setting.
